The Optimism of Youth

North Korea, Kim Jong Un, youth, missiles, bombs, optimism,If you think that the dimwit in today's cartoon is Alfred E. Newman from Mad Magazine, you'd be wrong. Harvey Kurtzman, a cartoonist, and the original editor and creator of Mad first spotted the image on a postcard pinned to the office bulletin board of the editor of Ballantine Books . The image had, for years been used on comic postcards. In 1965 Mad was sued for copyright infringement by the widow of cartoonist Harry Spencer Stuff. She claimed it was a copy of Stuff’s caricature “The Original Optimist,” also known as “Me-worry?”, which he had copyrighted in 1914.
Mad Magazine argued that it had copied the picture from various materials dating back to 1911 and won the case.

For Dry Bones Fans

The "death of print newspapers" has drastically affected our income, but the growth of social media has greatly improved our ability to fight antisemitism, defend Israel, and promote Zionism.

We, the LSW (Long Suffering Wife) and I are having a greater impact than ever before but our meager income is dwindling. Embarrassing as it is, we are asking Dry Bones fans for your support.
You can donate a fixed amount or you can arrange for a monthly contribution.

Here is a "Help Dry Bones" link. If you like Dry Bones please click on it.

Uber Taxi Service in Israel

Tel Aviv, Uber, Taxis, transportation,According to Globes:
The Tel Aviv District Court has ordered Uber Israel to halt its UberDAY and UberNIGHT taxi services within 48 hours following an appeal by the Israel Taxi Drivers Association and the Gett taxi hailing app company.

At the beginning of November, Uber Israel began operating its UberDAY ridesharing service in Tel Aviv and the neighboring cities of Ramat Gan and Givatayim with journeys undertaken to Herzliya in the north and Bat Yam in the south. Since October 2016, Uber Israel had been operating its UberNIGHT service in Greater Tel Aviv. The service had severe restrictions on the amount of rides each driver was able to provide so that earnings would be capped to cover car maintenance costs as defined by the Israel Tax Authority.

However, Judge Eitan Orenstein found that Uber Israel did not meet the criterion for ridesharing by which drivers simply cover their costs for a journey. This also raised the issue of appropriate insurance and the court was not convinced by Uber Israel's assurances that policies were being negotiated.

The Ministry of Transport had also sued Uber Israel for providing a service, which in its opinion is illegal. Judge Eitan Orenstein was critical of the Attorney General for not having expressed a position on the matter.

Slaughter in Egyptian Sinai

ISIS, terror, Islamism, terrorism, Egypt, Sinai, terror attack, According to The Guardian:
Sinai mosque death toll raised to 305 as reports claim gunmen carried Isis flags

Egypt was reeling on Saturday from the worst atrocity it has suffered in recent years, with officials putting the death toll from the bomb and gun assault on a Sinai mosque at 305. The figure includes 27 children.

A further 128 people were wounded in the attack on the Rawdah mosque in Bir al-Abed, north Sinai. A bomb ripped through the mosque as Friday prayers were finishing, before militants opened fire on worshipers. In response, airstrikes were directed at “terrorist” locations, said military sources.

Egypt’s chief prosecutor, Nabil Sadeq, said the attack was carried out by 25-30 militants who had stationed themselves at the mosque’s main door and 12 windows before opening fire on those inside. More than 50 ambulances ferried casualties from the mosque, about 25 miles west of the city of Arish, to nearby hospitals. Pictures from the scene showed rows of bloodied victims inside the mosque.

Theresa May yesterday told the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, that the UK “stands ready to help in any way possible”. Downing Street added that the two leaders agreed that international co-operation was needed to tackle the problem of terrorism.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but it marks a significant escalation in a region where, for the past three years, Egyptian security forces have battled an Islamic State insurgency that has killed hundreds of police and soldiers. It was reported yesterday that the assailants were carrying the Islamic State flag. The attack was not only one of the worst terrorist incidents in Egyptian history, but also the first on a mosque. The justification for assaulting a Muslim place of worship appears to be that the mosque was frequented by Sufis, a sect considered by many Islamist extremists to be heretical. - More

Will we see it at the movies?

Saudi Arabia, Iran, Bible, End Times, End of Days, Trees, The Green Testament,Israel, Hanukkah, Chanukkah, gift, books, Dry Bones, holiday,Amazon, Jewish,

Are we at a great turning point in the History of the Middle East? Or are we fooling ourselves? I speculate with this movie poster cartoon. At the very least I hope it brings a smile to your lips.

Meanwhile, We, the LSW (Long Suffering Wife) and I have published a line of fabulous Dry Bones cartoon books. They make great Hanukkah gifts.

Perhaps the most meaningful of these books is Trees, The Green Testament
It is a 208 page Dry Bones Graphic Novel that presents the story of Israel as told by the Trees. It unites Jews, Christians, environmentalists, historians, Zionists, millennial students, and angry senior citizens with its shared message of hope. The Wall Street Journal called it a book of prophecy. Perhaps they were right.

Hariri to Return to Lebanon

Iran,Saudi Arabia, Sunni, Shia, Lebanon,Hezbollah,Syria,Hariri,
Lebanese PM Saad Hariri has said he will return to Beirut in the coming days, and will then clarify his shock decision to resign. He quit two weeks ago during a visit to Saudi Arabia, but President Michel Aoun refused to accept the resignation. Mr Hariri denied being held in Riyadh against his will, amid speculation the Saudis had forced him to quit as part of a regional power struggle with Iran.

Books, Books, Books,

Israel, hanukkah, chanukkah, gift, books, Dry Bones, holiday,Amazon, Jewish,

We, the LSW (Long Suffering Wife) and I have published a line of fabulous Dry Bones cartoon books. They make great Hanukkah gifts.

1. the Dry Bones Jewish Traditions Holiday Coloring Book,
From the candle lighting of Hanukkah to the munching of Passover, from the honey-dipped apple slices of Rosh HaShana, to the tree-plantings of Tu B'Shvat, this coloring book invites you to color (or just read) your way through the traditions of our Jewish Holidays.

2. Dry Bones Cartoons Fight Back
This is a collection of the Dry Bones cartoons that fight back against the antisemites, the deniers of our history, the anti-Zionists, and the enemies of our JudeoChristian civilization. None are Politically Correct. Most are angry. But if you are a Zionist Jew or a Righteous Gentile, they will bring you comfort, a smile, and a few laughs.

3. Young and Innocent, the way we were
Do you remember Israel the way it used to be? Before we were the "Startup"nation? Do you remember measuring floors by counting the floor tiles? Sniffing the cottage Cheese? Here's a collection of "You Know You've Been Here Too Long When . . ." and other classic Dry Bones full Page cartoons. Return with us now to those thrilling (and funny) days of yesteryear when we were Young and Innocent.

4. Trees, The Green Testament
A 208 page Dry Bones Graphic Novel that presents the story of Israel as told by the Trees. It bridges the gap that divides Jews, Christians, environmentalists, historians, Zionists, millennial students, and angry senior citizens. His Jewish "Ex"

Rutgers. academia, antisemitism, Jews, According to JTA:
— Rutgers University is reviewing the anti-Semitic and anti-Israel social media posts of a professor who called Judaism “the most racist religion in the world.”

As of Wednesday morning the Facebook page of Michael Chikindas, a microbiology professor in the food science department and director of the Rutgers Center for Digestive Health, had been taken down. But some of the posts remain in screenshot form on the Israellycool blog, which first reported the posts, and on the website of the Algemeiner news site, which reported extensively on the posts on Tuesday.

The posts include caricatures of hook-nosed Jews; canards that the Jews control Hollywood, the Federal Reserve and the government; and that Israel is committing genocide and is a “terrorist country.”

Chikindas blamed the Armenian genocide on Jewish Turks and republished claims that American Jews and Israel were responsible for the 9/11 attacks, among other anti-Semitic claims.

In an interview with the Algemeiner, Chikindas rejected accusations of anti-Semitism, saying he was previously married to a Jewish woman more

Confused?

Christianity, Jewish School, London,According to JTA:
(JTA) — The principal of a Jewish school in London has been ordained as a Church of England priest.

Patrick Moriarty, 51, who is not Jewish, has been headmaster of the Jewish Community Secondary School in north London, or JCoSS, since 2012, The Times of London reported Saturday. The school has 1,300 students and 100 teachers.

“The governing body is proud to have a non-Jew as its head teacher and prouder still that he has been able to find time to take his own religious beliefs to the next level,” said Jeremy Kosky, chairman of the school’s governors.

A handful of Jewish day schools in North America have non-Jewish heads of school or principals, who supervise the general curriculum or the entire school while a Jewish faculty member directs Jewish studies. JCoSS has a director of Jewish learning as well as a director of Jewish life.

Moriarty, who according to The Times works 70 hours a week, was appointed as assistant curate at St. Mary the Virgin, in the London borough of Barnet, following his ordination as a deacon in July at St. Albans Cathedral.

Moriarty’s new colleagues at St. Mary the Virgin were pleased to share him with the Jewish institution, they said.more
