The Very First Dry Bones

dry bones

January 1, 1973

I thought it would be fun to show you the very first ever Dry Bones cartoon. The oldest possible Oldie"... published 4o years ago on Jan 1, 1973, in the Jerusalem Post. The two characters In the cartoon are chatting with each other but are facing the reader (I hadn't yet figured out the "profile" approach).
The two government clerks are each enjoying a pastry and a cup of tea (A traditional 10 AM tea break in Israeli offices back then). The two characters have remained an important duo in the cartoon through the years. Now, of course they face each other. One with glasses, the other with a mustache . BTW, to see the Jerusalem Post Magazine report on our anniversary click on DRY BONES AT 40.
