Holidays (1993)

1993 Dry Bones cartoon -Rosh HaShana, the Civil New Year, and Israel Independence Day.
The State of Israel announced its Independence on May 14 1948. In the Hebrew calendar, that day was the 5th of the Hebrew month of Iyar. The Jewish State, quite naturally, celebrates its Independence day according to the Jewish calendar.

The Hebrew name of the holiday is Yom HaAtzmaut. This year the day falls on Monday April 23, 2007.

Israel Independence Day, like all Jewish holidays, begins at sundown the night before, so late night parties will take place on the evening of April 22 (while barbecues and picnics will be held on April 23).
